Miroku does an excellent job manufacturing guns. We used a Caldwell Lead Sled on a covered bench rest to eliminate as much shooter error as possible. Barrels producing unusually small groupings during test-firing were fitted to rifles with set triggers and a special finish.

The serial number matches between the frame and barrel. The barrel address, the 'NEW MODEL 1859' and the patent information on the rear sight are all deep, clear and readable. While there is no finish left, the markings are sharp, clear and readable. Developed from the 1860, Winchester rifles were among the earliest repeaters. The carbine itself is in very good condition. Winchester produced some Model 1886 rifles with extra heavy barrels measuring approximately. Our octagon barrel forearms are for standard weight barrels. Standard octagonal barrels were the same weight for both early and late models. Early model rifles before serial number 92,000 featured heavier round barrels than those of the later models.
